About the artist

Maarten Léon

Once I have an idea, I cannot rest until it's exactly as I imagined

Maarten Léon

Dutch artist Maarten Léon describes his work as an ode to growing up and self-reflection. He explores the emotions and thoughts he experiences while trying to cope with adult choices. Vintage themes such as pictures and ads, often embody precisely the absurdity that Maarten experiences in his thoughts. Putting multimedia fragments together to create visual worlds, his work is an exploration of surrealism and minimalism. Letting go of all elements that are redundant, his emphasis lies on the shapes and the colours. His ultimate goal is to find the perfect balance between the aesthetics and the story.
