Achromatic acrobats

Contrary to common belief, dogs do not have black and white vision—rather their visible colour spectrum is simply narrower than our own. Humans who are unable to see colour are known as achromats.

If you feel most at home when surrounded by ebony, ivory and jet-black hues, it may well be that you are an achromatic aesthete. So treat yourself to some black and white cushions which can be paired with a combination of monochrome and colourful designs. Dare to see life in black and white!

Put across a message

There are some things in life that don't need to be bright to catch your eye—a character portrait, a poignant quote, a cushion with a panda print, or a classic New Wave film.

The same applies to the most aesthetically-pleasing interiors, which can be achieved via a skilful combination of colour splashes and black and white furnishings. If you have, for example, a teal sofa or a scarlet red duvet, you can always throw on some black and white cushions in a striking graphic print. Your room will be transformed in no time.

A trip back in time

Black and white images tend to evoke a sense of nostalgia, be it the memories captured in an old family photo or that familiar feeling of satisfaction when you first learned to write in fountain pen.

There's no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than nestling into a heap of vintage black and white cushions. With a literary classic in hand, and a record-player cushion by your side, you'll feel as though you're stepping back in time. Now and again we all need some space for reflection—even better with a retro touch.
