Designed by Banksy. Banksy’s 2007 work ’One Nation Under CCTV’ tapped into the then mounting public concern over Britain’s government surveillance. At a time when media was rapidly changing and allowing for a new kind of connectedness and, consequently, tracking, surveillance was (and of course, remains) a hot topic. Aptly painted below a CCTV camera on London's Newman Street, it’s placement further emphasised the perceived invasion of privacy. Unfortunately, the iconic artwork was removed in 2008 by Westminster City Council.
