About the artist

Paula Braconnot

I explore alchemical symbols through my compositions. My collages are my voice, my questions, my silence.

Paula Braconnot

Paris-based Paula Braconnot’s art leads you through the looking glass. The self-taught Brazilian artist’s surreal black-and-white images depict the merging of human body parts – with each other and with plants. Curious metamorphoses constructed from old images and digital collages show an enchantingly other, mysterious fairytale world where illusions reign supreme. Her work is influenced by old illustrated encyclopaedias as well as the artists Gustave Doré and Max Ernst.
