"Separation in creation, creation through separation"
My work explores the essence of creation, beyond human perception and preconceived interpretations. Rather than framing creation through sensory experience or cultural context, I aim to visualize it in its most fundamental and pure form. Inspired by Genesis, I investigate “separation in creation” and “creation through separation.” I seek to dismantle the human tendency to define creation through the familiar, revealing its inherent logic and order by stripping away subjective meaning. To me, art does not offer answers—it invites new ways of seeing. I welcome the emotions and interpretations my work evokes. The more varied the responses, the closer I feel to touching the essence of creation. My practice ultimately asks: What is creation? How might we experience it beyond perception? Born in South Korea and based in Paris, I work as both an architect and painter. My architectural background sharpened my sensitivity to light and material. Yet in art, I strive to shed these very senses. This paradox drives my work—the tension between opposing forces shapes a path I cannot fully foresee.
