Jaco Haasbroek comes from South Africa, a country where the sun shines more often than anywhere else in the world. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the illustrator's work has such a positive, cheerful aura. Why is the milk sour? What does a black hole feel like and why do individual socks keep disappearing without letting you know? Haasbroe's answers to life's questions are smart, simple and funny. The conceptual artist draws his inspiration from the little punchlines of everyday life that just happen to cross his path from time to time and which he transforms with a spontaneous stroke into snapshots to make you smile.
