" I have nothing profound to say, which is why I draw."
Nicolas Messaritis grew up in Cyprus but moved to London to study architecture at the age of nineteen. He explores themes of escapism and invasion in his photographic collages which juxtapose desert landscapes with geometric shapes and man-made structures. His work is influenced by photographers and illustrators such as Mark Weaver and Rob Sherridan, and architects like Mies Van Der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright. Looking out of the bus while riding through the city, having discussions about form and function, and listening to Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and David Bowie on his headphones also provide the experimental architect with inspiration.
