"It is always better to decide in favour of a time than to let a time decide for you."
Josh Ruggs' works take a satirical look at the American dream and all the social, political and cultural discourses that revolve around it. He uses familiar everyday objects, celebrities and comic aesthetics, clearly in the tradition of Pop Art, as instruments to visualise these narratives of mass culture, consumption and the cult of personality. To create his multi-layered images, the American works with spray, acrylic paint, oil, ink and pretty much every conceivable surface that comes under his brush.
