Avril Lavigne was born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, to Judith-Rosanne (Loshaw) and Jean-Claude Joseph Lavigne. Her ancestry is French-Canadian, Polish, English, Irish, and Scottish. When she was five, her family moved to Napanee, Ontario, where she spent most of her youth. In elementary school, she was diagnosed with ADHD and was often expelled from class for misbehaving and sometimes started fights with other children. She played hockey from a young age, in the boys team.
