"Never having been a photo-album sort of girl, I draw whimsical Algonquin-inspired animals as totems for those that have galvanized my life."
Laura Morrish may live in Florida but her heart belongs to the Algonquin Park in Ontario. The self-taught artist and conservationist draws anthropomorphised versions of animals native to this area of the Canadian wilderness and gives each one a detailed backstory. She creates characters like Albert Finnegan the black bear, Ford Buckminster the beaver and Quinn Bancroft the red fox to remind us to be mindful of how we treat animals and their habitat.
