"I love everyday life with all the little routines and rituals that we go through day after day."
Liga comes from Latvia and lives in London with her husband (one who bequeathed her the unusual surname Kitchen) and children (three), where she works as an illustrator for publishers, newspapers, magazines, fashion labels and bands. She studied at the Latvian Academy of Arts and Central Saint Martins University of the Arts - good starting conditions for playing in the creative big leagues. Liga prefers to be inspired by small everyday observations and other people's stories, which she then translates into imaginative-surreal collages made from photographs, cut-outs and hand-drawn drawings. Liga's works take us into a colourful parallel world with sometimes documentary-sober, sometimes mystical-dreamy charm.
