Studio Landluft presents works by Karen Strempel, an illustrator living in Berlin and on a former farm who holds a degree in communication design from the Folkwang University of the Arts. She develops minimalist, hand-drawn illustrations in a folk art style that depict plants, animals and idiosyncratic scenes in a clear visual language – often in front of a crackling stove in a circus wagon. Her works combine organic forms, earthy colours and simple compositions. The focus is on nature, familiarity and timeless design. Karen works both analogously and digitally, combining graphic elements with graphic clarity.
